The pendant body is machined from a 12 mm diameter round bar of Ti-6Al-4V alloy on a 4-axis CNC mill, with the rope twist profile cut using a continuous helical toolpath at 0.01 mm step-over to achieve a surface finish requiring only minimal hand polishing. The final form measures 60 mm in length with a 9-strand apparent rope geometry in which each strand is 3 mm in diameter at the crest and tapers to 1.5 mm at the valley, creating the illusion of braided strands in a single monolithic piece. Titanium’s inherent corrosion resistance means no plating, coating, or sealant is required: the metal forms a self-healing titanium dioxide passivation layer within seconds of any surface scratch. The piece weighs only 18 g despite its substantial visual mass, owing to titanium’s density of 4.5 g per cubic centimeter versus 8.9 g per cubic centimeter for brass.
